Active Citizens is a social leadership training programme that connects people, supporting them to develop their skills and knowledge and act as agents of change to build fairer and more resilient societies. On the occasion of COP26, youth leaders from different EU countries will develop social action ideas in the topic of climate change and sustainability for their communities. The programme in Greece is in partnership with the British Embassy, WWF, the Lambrakis Foundation and the Athanasios C. Laskaridis Charitable Foundation.
What is COP26
The UK will host the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow on 1 – 12 November 2021. This will be the largest international climate change summit the UK has hosted, bringing together over 30,000 delegates including heads of states, climate experts and campaigners to agree coordinated action to tackle climate change. The British Council is working with partners worldwide to support the success and legacy of COP26 by creating opportunities for cooperation, dialogue and action in arts, education and science that address the shared challenges of climate change. With this in mind, ahead of and beyond COP26, the British Council will launch an innovative and creative programme of activity and engagement to bring people across the world together. Through education, art, science and cultural exchange, we will enable audiences worldwide to connect and collaborate on solutions to climate change.
